Day 7

We were woken at 11pm and started our ascent at midnight

It took us seven and a half hours to get to Stella Point to watch the sunrise over Africa

Then another hour to get to Uhuru - the summit at 5895 metres

In case you haven't worked it out - WE MADE IT - all six of us

We then had to walk back to our camp which took us until midday. So 12 hours of walking. No ordinary walking - 8.5 up a very big steep mountain and 3.5 hours down a very big steep mountain

Did I mention that the mountain was big and steep?

We are all very exhausted and now have two hours to rest before we have to pack and walk to another camp.

We are all very pleased with the whole team making it to the summit

Well done all of you - what an achievement. We have all been following your progress here in NZ and the first thing Gill and Jan said to me this morning was "well have they done it"

Look forward to seeing you and the pictures on your return. Have a nice relaxing Safari and a beer or two.

love from the NZ contingent Bill and Janet, Gill and Jan

Well done Jim and team - enjoy the break.
Hope the descent is not too much of a come down.
Have you managed to discover any new spices?

See you in a few weeks.
